Stylist Kelly Hume

Her Christmas lists for her husband, daughter and best friend are all the inspiration you need

By Kelly Hume

Kelly’s first job was interning at Vogue and from there, she’s styled shoots everywhere from UK Harper’s Bazaar to InStyle and Stellar. Is it unethical to just copy her lists?

‘For my food-and-wine-obsessed husband’

Pit Boss Portable Navigator Wood Pellet Grill BBQ: My equally food-obsessed brother suggested this would be the perfect gift. It basically does everything: smokes, grills and barbecues, and it’s not a giant eye-sore that will take up my entire deck. Love that.

A coravin wine preservation system is THE perfect gift in my mind. Both of us loathe having to open a really incredible bottle of wine thinking we need to drink the entire bottle in an evening. The coravin was recommended to me by a very worldly friend and it’s been on my list for my husband ever since.

A Clement chefs knife: These are small batch, made from plastic and metal waste only, beautifully crafted and designed to last a lifetime. They can be hard to get your hands on but good things come to those who wait (or watch his socials for the new stock release date!).

A bottle of Antipodes Gin – Australian-made and owned, organic and carbon neutral, and distilled in Canberra, so only three hours from home.

‘For my chic yet spiritual bestie’

Jacqui Lewis and Arran Russell – who are dear friends of mine – have written this book, which will certainly increase your quality of life. Jacqui is an integrative meditation teacher, among other things, and I turn to her musings for life advice daily.

These quirky champagne coups from Maison Balzac are just the perfect festive gesture. Hopefully she gives me a bottle of delicious bubbles and we can enjoy both gifts together.

A facial at Fenn Store: the ladies at Fenn offer a holistic approach to skincare, which this friend is all about. A blend of contemporary and traditional techniques will leave her feeling rejuvenated and restored.

A Moon Calendar by Lexmond vs Lexmond charts the cycles of the moon throughout the lunar year. Perfectly woo woo.

‘What I’m buying my five-year-old daughter’

A Sticky Lemon backpack: Bea starts school next year and I love these vibrant yet unexpected colour combinations and minimalist design quirks.

She has been very keen for a pet fish, which I struggled with for a number of reasons, but this really is an incredible invention. The fish provide nutrients for the plants, the plants clean the water for the fish AND she is growing her own food.

We live on the coast so spend a lot of time at the beach and exploring rockpools. This all-in-one goggles and snorkel is moulded to avoid the snorkel separating from the googles.

A Robot Safari: Children learn to build robots and then watch them move and operate. Pretty cool.

‘…and for me’

A subscription to ADASH – a subscription-based app that has recipe videos by some of the country’s best chefs and food content creators.

A weekend away. ALONE. A girl can dream. Ideally at Eden Health Retreat. To be honest, I would forego all future birthday and Christmas gifts for at least two years for this one present.

I’ve always wanted to learn ceramics but being time poor a clay at-home kit would do the job.
