12 Winter Coats That Look And Feel Like Luxury

Longer lines and rich neutrals equal instant polish.

By Kathryn Madden

I’ve been looking forward to coat weather.

Not because I crave blustery days or bitter-cold nights. But because, after two winters spent in various states of hibernation, my coats have been gathering dust in the closet. Sure, I’d throw on a puffer jacket for my daily lockdown walk, but a classic wool cover-up seemed irrelevant if I wasn’t venturing beyond my block.

This season, though, the coat returns to its rightful place as a winter wardrobe hero – and the prevailing look is put-together and polished.

Timeless silhouettes meet rich, neutral tones (think camel, navy and luxe winter white), while warming wool-blends, mohair and cashmere are a godsend on chilly days when a trench coat just won’t cut it.

“You can throw these coats over anything,” adds Wood, pointing to an androgynous, black, double-breasted design by local label, St. Agni.

Whether layered over something equally sleek or paired with everyday staples, these coats represent the antithesis of slobbing around. And in my opinion, that’s surely something worth looking forward to.
