Meet The One Accessory That’ll Lift Your Game This Summer

FASHION

BY FELICITY ROBINSON

When tennis champion Chris Evert interrupted a game in the 1978 US Open to search for her fallen bracelet, it made headlines – and resulted in this simple gold and diamond chain becoming known as a “tennis bracelet”.

The tennis bracelet has cropped up a lot recently. For this, we can thank designers such as Miuccia Prada and Thom Browne, who’ve shown tennis-inspired pieces such as polo shirts and pleated minis in the last couple of seasons.

“I would almost treat them like a gold chain or bracelet – they’re an easy style to throw on and leave on. They look just as good with a white t-shirt as they do a cocktail slip dress and blazer.”

Layering with other fine jewellery, or even next to a watch, is also a modern way to wear the bracelet.
