It’s hard to imagine having anything other than a great time when you’re carrying a straw bag. After all, you’re not going to the office or any other place demanding formality or seriousness. No one ever carried a straw bag to a funeral.
That’s why, as we finish up for the holidays, we’ve selected this jaunty accessory as our shopping pick this week.

A leather trim or handle elevates a straw bag, as well as making it easier to carry, but really the key to the perfect basket is its utility. Ideally, your bag will be roomy enough to fit a towel, sunscreen, sunnies and all the other paraphernalia you need to take to the beach or a picnic party.
That’s not to say that you can’t have a few different colours and styles to suit your outfit and mood.
(In fact, Lucy confesses that she displays her straw bag collection on a shelf, which proves she takes far better care of her possessions than some of us…)
“To me, they are the equivalent of the oversized striped shirt,” she adds. “Versatile, classic and something you’ll wear year after year.”
