All Hail The Kitten Heel

It’s difficult to avoid Noughties and Y2K-inspired fashion right now. Waistlines are dropping, cargo pants are back; even the models themselves are apparently reverting to tiny, Kate-Moss-like proportions.

So, perhaps it’s not surprising that the ’90s footwear staple, the kitten heel, is also back – and, frankly, the timing couldn’t be more perfect for those of us who spent the pandemic in trainers, and still (still) aren’t ready to return to our high-heeled ways.

“Kitten heels are very wearable,” says stylist Lucy Wood, who selected the eight pairs below. “They look great with pants on a night out but can be worn just as easily to the office.”

For a fashion-forward look, consider an elongated toe (“some women are also wearing them with socks,” says Wood). But in fact there’s a shape or style for everyone, whether you’re investing in Khaite, Toteme or The Row, or something a little (much) more wallet-friendly.
