Spring has finally arrived, heralding what’s widely acknowledged to be the most difficult moment in the fashion calendar: trans-seasonal dressing. One moment, it’s t-shirt weather; the next, you’re pulling on a sweater as grey clouds scud across the sun.
As ever, the key to dressing for this changeable season is layering, says stylist Lucy Wood, who chose this week’s neutral-toned pieces, below. “It’s also a matter of choosing clothing that slips easily into your wardrobe.”
The Venroy scoop-neck top is the kind of hardworking item that looks great with jeans now and a silk skirt or shorts on warmer days. Similarly, Lee Mathew’s v-neck dress in khaki and tan layers beautifully with a fine knit underneath or a chunky sweater over the top.
“These are pieces you’ll wear for a long time and they’ll work brilliantly with clothes you already own, particularly if you lean to a more classic look,” says Lucy. Add a modern touch with a chunkier-soled sandal, such as the shearling Camilla and Marc slide, below, or any of the refined black leather sandals now appearing in stores.
