If you can’t remember the last time you used a clutch bag – me neither. Now that parties and fancy dinners are a distant memory, at least for those of us on the east coast, the only bag I’m using is a scruffy tote containing kid snacks, any number of masks and hand sanitiser.
Such glamour.
That’s why the structured crossbody bag, with its mix of beauty and practicality, is so appealing. “There are also a lot of fun bright and sporty cross-body bags around at the moment, but I loved these structured leather styles,” says stylist Lucy Wood, who styled (and modelled) this week’s selection. “I think everyone wants to buy less and better, and these pieces are truly timeless.”
They also elevate any look, even a tracksuit. “They make everything look a little more ‘fashion’,” adds Lucy.

“Rylan is designed by Aussie blogger Brooke Testoni, who launched the brand when she couldn’t find her dream bag at the right price point,” says Lucy.
I love the compact size of this bag and the removable strap. As this Ganni dress makes a statement, I liked grounding it with neutral leather accessories.”
The Tory Burch crossbody
Says Lucy: “This Tory Burch bag is an absolute classic, and that’s why I liked styling it with its outfit equivalent: a plaid blazer, gold hardware and blue jeans.”
Tonal with Camilla and Marc
If you’re going for a tonal look, it’s great to have one piece that pops – like this tan Camilla and Marc structured bag. “This is a sleek, classic that won’t date,” says Lucy, adding that Camilla and Marc’s tailoring right now is also beautiful.
The Prada Cleo
An adaption of the brand’s iconic nylon mini bag, this Prada Cleo in brushed leather is designed to hug the body. “This bag would add polish to so many outfits, from jeans and a T-shirt to a minimalist black dress,” says Lucy. “I love its modern sophistication.”
